Marthoma Church SERAC Soup Kitchen
On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, the South East RAC conducted a successful Soup Kitchen event at Catholic Charities, located at 60 Jay Street, Newark as part of Neighborhood Mission. This charitable activity saw the enthusiastic participation of about fifteen volunteers from the Marthoma Churches of New Jersey. The day's activities commenced with a heartfelt prayer offered by Rev. Mathew Varughese of the Marthoma Church of New Jersey, Randolph. By 8:30 am, all volunteers had arrived at the center, ready to contribute their time and effort. They diligently assisted with cooking, setting up the food and tables for the event, and cleaning afterward. The event saw around one hundred people join for lunch, enjoying the warm and nutritious meals prepared by the dedicated volunteers. All tasks were efficiently completed by 11:30 am, ensuring a smooth and organized event. The day concluded with a closing prayer by Rev. Arun Samuel Varghese of St. Stephens Marthoma Church, East Brunswick. The Soup Kitchen was expertly coordinated by SERAC board member Shaiji Cheriyan and SERAC treasurer Byju Varghese. Heartfelt thanks are extended to all the volunteers whose dedication and hard work made this event a resounding success. Appreciating everyone’s commitment to serving the community reflects the true spirit of compassion and fellowship.
