Diocesan Bishop Inaugurates two new mission initiatives at Southwest US-Mexico Border The Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulose inaugurated two new significant mission initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the Southwest US-Mexico border Colonias community members on January 17, 2025, at Rio Grande Valley Mar Thoma Congregation, Alamo, TX. • "Martin Luther King Light to Life" Mission: Extension of the Diocese’s “Light to Life” mission to USA to promote the holistic development of children in Colonias communities. Inspired by the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., the program aspires to empower children to achieve their full potential and contribute positively to society. • "Colonias Neighborhood Mission": To support the residents of Colonias with a focus on essential needs and community development. The Diocesan Secretary Rev. George Abraham, Diocesan Treasurer Mr. George Babu, Rev. Sonu S. Varghese, the Vicar of Mar Thoma Congregation of Rio Grande Valley and the Missionary of Mexico Mission, Mr. P. T. Abraham (Mexico Mission Coordinator) and Mr. John Thomas (Mexico Mission Treasurer), the Diocesan council members, Diocesan Sevika Sangham leaders, and the Southwest RAC representatives were also present. The event brought together Mar Thoma mission partners, local Mar Thoma mission leaders, RGV Mar Thoma congregation, and the Colonias community members to mark the launch of these programs dedicated to holistic development and support of the Southwest US-Mexico border Colonias residents. Thirumeni emphasized the importance of serving the marginalized and highlighted the mission's dedication to holistic development the Colonias Community. These initiatives signify the commitment of the Mar Thoma Mission to the well-being and development of underserved Colonias communities. By addressing critical needs and fostering hope, these programs aim to create lasting change and uplift lives.
