Diocesan Sevika Sangham Conference Inspires Women to "Live to Leave a Legacy"

The Diocesan Conference of the Mar Thoma Sevika Sangham of the North American Diocese successfully concluded its four-day event at the Carmel Mar Thoma Center, inspiring around 500 women from various parishes across the Diocese. Centered on the theme "Live to Leave a Legacy," derived from Deuteronomy 6:7, the conference aimed to strengthen Christian faith and leadership within homes and communities. Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulos Episcopa, Diocesan Bishop and President of the Diocesan Sevika Sangham, inaugurated the conference. In his inaugural address, Tirumeni emphasized the importance of making homes centers of Christian witness and nurturing faith for future generations. He encouraged attendees to apply the conference’s lessons in their personal and parish lives. Several notable leaders contributed to the conference. Vicar General Very. Rev. Dr. Sham. P. Thomas, Dr. Martha Moore-Keish (Columbia Theological Seminary), Susan Saji, and Ancy Rogi Mathews led Main Classes and Bible Studies while Dr. Sally Jacob, Anita Ninan Esq, Dr. Bini Mathew, Dr. Serene Jacob, and Donna Thomas facilitated various sessions. Other key speakers included Rev. Skariah Varghese, Rev. Joby John, Rev. Jacob Thomas, Diocesan Treasurer George Babu, General Convener Blessy Philip, Conference Secretary Mariyamma Mathew, Diocesan Sevikasangham Secretary Noby Byju, Diocesan Sevika Sangham Treasurer Mercy Thomas, Sara Itty, Diocesan Council Member Suma Chacko. Worship sessions were led by the Sevika Sanghams of the Atlanta Mar Thoma Church, as well as those from the Northeast Region, Canada, South East & Southern, and the Midwest & Western Regions. The conference culminated on Sunday, September 6th, with the Holy Communion service. In his concluding message, Tirumeni congratulated the participants for their active involvement and encouraged them to carry the leadership qualities demonstrated during the conference back to their local parishes and the broader Diocese. The conference not only strengthened the bond between women in the church but also inspired them to live lives of faith and service, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.
