GROUNDBREAKING EVENT OF THE NEW CHURCH FACILITY PROJECT MAR THOMA CHURCH OF GREATER WASHINGTON (MTCGW)

“For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.”
On Sunday 31 March 2024 Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulos offered a special prayer service and performed the groundbreaking for construction of the new church facility of the Mar Thoma Church of Greater Washington (MTCGW) at 15400 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, Maryland. Under the guidance and leadership of Rev. Anu Oommen (former Vicar) the Church purchased the new property on 5 November 2020, after obtaining county approval of the subdivision plan that allows the construction of a new church facility with a 300-seating capacity sanctuary and associated facilities including classrooms, office spaces, a fellowship hall, and adequate parking spaces. Under the guidance and leadership of Rev. Byju Thomas (former Vicar), on 13 November 2022, the church General Body unanimously approved the master site plan, the schematic design, and the floor plan of the 13,000 sq. ft. new church facility. Under the leadership of our current vicar, Rev. Joel S. Thomas, the site work for the new church facility has commenced and fundraising efforts are ongoing to build this new place of worship.
