1. I, therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,

2. with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,

3. making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace:

4. there is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling,

5. one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6. one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.

7. But each of us was given grace according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

8. Therefore it is said, “When he ascended on high, he made captivity itself a captive; he gave gifts to his people.”

9. (When it says, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth?

10. He who descended is the same one who ascended far above all the heavens, so that he might fill all things.)

11. He himself granted that some are apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers

12. to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,

13. until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.

14. We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine by people’s trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming;

15. but speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,

16. from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love.

1. इसलिए मैं, जो प्रभु के लिए बन्दी हूँ, तुमसे विनती करता हूँ कि तुम्हारी जीवनशैली तुम्हारी बुलाहट के अनुरूप हो.

2. तुम में विशुद्ध विनम्रता, सौम्यता तथा धीरज के साथ आपस में प्रेम में सहने का भाव भर जाए.

3. शान्ति के बन्धन में पवित्रात्मा की एकता को यथाशक्ति संरक्षित बनाए रखो. एक ही शरीर है, एक ही आत्मा.

4. ठीक इसी प्रकार वह आशा भी एक ही है जिसमें तुम्हें बुलाया गया है.

5. एक ही प्रभु, एक ही विश्वास, एक ही बपतिस्मा

6. और सारी मानवजाति के पिता, जो सबके ऊपर, सबके बीच और सब में एक ही परमेश्वर हैं.

7. किन्तु हममें से हर एक को मसीह के वरदान के परिमाण के अनुसार अनुग्रह प्रदान किया गया है,

4. നിങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഏകപ്രത്യാശെക്കായി നിങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചതുപോലെ ശരീരം ഒന്നു, ആത്മാവു ഒന്നു,

5. കർത്താവു ഒരുവൻ, വിശ്വാസം ഒന്നു, സ്നാനം ഒന്നു, എല്ലാവർക്കും മീതെയുള്ളവനും

6. എല്ലാവരിലും കൂടി വ്യാപരിക്കുന്നവനും എല്ലാവരിലും ഇരിക്കുന്നവനുമായി എല്ലാവർക്കും ദൈവവും പിതാവുമായവൻ ഒരുവൻ.

7. എന്നാൽ നമ്മിൽ ഓരോരുത്തന്നു ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ദാനത്തിന്റെ അളവിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം കൃപ ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

8. അതുകൊണ്ടു: “അവൻ ബദ്ധന്മാരെ പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പോയി ഉയരത്തിൽ കയറി മനുഷ്യർക്കു ദാനങ്ങളെ കൊടുത്തു” എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

9. കയറി എന്നതിനാൽ അവൻ ഭൂമിയുടെ അധോഭാഗങ്ങളിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങി എന്നു വരുന്നില്ലയോ?

10. ഇറങ്ങിയവൻ സകലത്തെയും നിറെക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു സ്വർഗ്ഗാധിസ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിന്നു മീതെ കയറിയവനും ആകുന്നു.

11. അവൻ ചിലരെ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരായും ചിലരെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരായും ചിലരെ സുവിശേഷകന്മാരായും ചിലരെ ഇടയന്മാരായും ഉപദേഷ്ടാക്കന്മാരായും നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു;

12. അതു നാം എല്ലാവരും വിശ്വാസത്തിലും ദൈവപുത്രനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിലുമുള്ള ഐക്യതയും തികഞ്ഞ പുരുഷത്വവും ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ സമ്പൂർണ്ണതയായ പ്രായത്തിന്റെ അളവും പ്രാപിക്കുവോളം

13. വിശുദ്ധന്മാരുടെ യഥാസ്ഥാനത്വത്തിന്നായുള്ള ശുശ്രൂഷയുടെ വേലെക്കും ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ശരീരത്തിന്റെ ആത്മികവർദ്ധനെക്കും ആകുന്നു.

14. അങ്ങനെ നാം ഇനി മനുഷ്യരുടെ ചതിയാലും ഉപായത്താലും തെറ്റിച്ചുകളയുന്ന തന്ത്രങ്ങളിൽ കുടുങ്ങിപ്പോകുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ഉപദേശത്തിന്റെ ഓരോ കാറ്റിനാൽ അലഞ്ഞുഴലുന്ന ശിശുക്കൾ ആയിരിക്കാതെ

15. സ്നേഹത്തിൽ സത്യം സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ക്രിസ്തു എന്ന തലയോളം സകലത്തിലും വളരുവാൻ ഇടയാകും.

16. ശരീരം മുഴുവനും യുക്തമായി ചേർന്നും ഏകീഭവിച്ചും ഓരോ അംഗത്തിന്റെ അതതു വ്യാപാരത്തിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം ഉതവി ലഭിപ്പാനുള്ള ഏതു സന്ധിയാലും സ്നേഹത്തിലുള്ള വർദ്ധനെക്കായി അവനിൽ നിന്നു വളർച്ച പ്രാപിക്കുന്നു.

1. In the first book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus did and taught from the beginning

2. until the day when he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.

3. After his suffering he presented himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.

4. While staying with them, he ordered them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for the promise of the Father. “This,” he said, “is what you have heard from me;

5. for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” The Ascension of Jesus

6. So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?”

7. He replied, “It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority.

8. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

9. When he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.

10. While he was going and they were gazing up toward heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them.

11. They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” Matthias Chosen to Replace Judas

1. हे थियुफिलुस, मैंने अपनी पहली पुस्तक में उन सब कार्यों के बारे में लिखा जिन्हें प्रारंम्भ से ही यीशु ने किया और

2. उस दिन तक उपदेश दिया जब तक पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा अपने चुने हुए प्रेरितों को निर्देश दिए जाने के बाद उसे ऊपर स्वर्ग में उठा न लिया गया।

6. सो जब वे आपस में मिले तो उन्होंने उससे पूछा, “हे प्रभु, क्या तू इसी समय इस्राएल के राज्य की फिर से स्थापना कर देगा?”

7. उसने उनसे कहा, “उन अवसरों या तिथियों को जानना तुम्हारा काम नहीं है, जिन्हें परम पिता ने स्वयं अपने अधिकार से निश्चित किया है।

8. बल्कि जब पवित्र आत्मा तुम पर आयेगा, तुम्हें शक्ति प्राप्त हो जायेगी, और यरूशलेम में, समूचे यहूदिया और सामरिया में और धरती के छोरों तक तुम मेरे साक्षी बनोगे।”

9. इतना कहने के बाद उनके देखते देखते उसे स्वर्ग में ऊपर उठा लिया गया और फिर एक बादल ने उसे उनकी आँखों से ओझल कर दिया।

10. जब वह जा रहा था तो वे आकाश में उसके लिये आँखें बिछाये थे। तभी तत्काल श्वेत वस्त्र धारण किये हुए दो पुरुष उनके बराबर आ खड़े हुए

11. और कहा, “हे गलीली लोगों, तुम वहाँ खड़े-खड़े आकाश में टकटकी क्यों लगाये हो? यह यीशु जिसे तुम्हारे बीच से स्वर्ग में ऊपर उठा लिया गया, जैसे तुमने उसे स्वर्ग में जाते देखा, वैसे ही वह फिर वापस लौटेगा।” एक नये प्रेरित का चुनाव

2. അവൻ കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിച്ചശേഷം നാല്പതു നാളോളം അവർക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി ദൈവരാജ്യം സംബന്ധിച്ച കാര്യങ്ങൾ

3. പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു താൻ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അനേകം ദൃഷ്ടാന്തങ്ങളാൽ അവർക്കു കാണിച്ചു കൊടുത്തു.

4. അങ്ങനെ അവൻ അവരുമായി കൂടിയിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ യെരൂശലേമിൽനിന്നു വാങ്ങിപ്പോകാതെ എന്നോടു കേട്ട പിതാവിന്റെ വാഗ്ദത്തത്തിനായി കാത്തിരിക്കേണം;

5. യോഹന്നാൻ വെള്ളംകൊണ്ടു സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചു. നിങ്ങൾക്കോ ഇനി ഏറെനാൾ കഴിയുംമുമ്പെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു സ്നാനം ലഭിക്കും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

6. ഒരുമിച്ചു കൂടിയിരുന്നപ്പോൾ അവർ അവനോടു: കർത്താവേ, നീ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഈ കാലത്തിലോ രാജ്യം യഥാസ്ഥാനത്താക്കിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നതു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

8. എന്നാൽ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിങ്ങളുടെ മേൽ വരുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ ശക്തി ലഭിച്ചിട്ടു യെരൂശലേമിലും യെഹൂദ്യയിൽ എല്ലാടത്തും ശമര്യയിലും ഭൂമിയുടെ അറ്റത്തോളവും എന്റെ സാക്ഷികൾ ആകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. ഇതു പറഞ്ഞശേഷം അവർ കാൺകെ അവൻ ആരോഹണം ചെയ്തു; ഒരു മേഘം അവനെ മൂടീട്ടു അവൻ അവരുടെ കാഴ്ചെക്കു മറഞ്ഞു.

10. അവൻ പോകുന്നേരം അവർ ആകാശത്തിലേക്കു ഉറ്റുനോക്കുമ്പോൾ വെള്ള വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ച രണ്ടു പുരുഷന്മാർ അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽനിന്നു:

36. While they were talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

37. They were startled and terrified, and thought that they were seeing a ghost.

38. He said to them, “Why are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?

39. Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself. Touch me and see; for a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.”

40. And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.

41. While in their joy they were disbelieving and still wondering, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?”

42. They gave him a piece of broiled fish,

43. and he took it and ate in their presence.

44. Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled.”

45. Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures,

46. and he said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day,

47. and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

48. You are witnesses of these things.

49. And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” The Ascension of Jesus

50. Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and, lifting up his hands, he blessed them.

51. While he was blessing them, he withdrew from them and was carried up into heaven.

52. And they worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy;

53. and they were continually in the temple blessing God.

36. अभी वे उन्हें ये बातें बता ही रहे थे कि वह स्वयं उनके बीच आ खड़ा हुआ और उनसे बोला, “तुम्हें शान्ति मिले।”

37. किन्तु वे चौंक कर भयभीत हो उठे। उन्होंने सोचा जैसे वे कोई भूत देख रहे हों।

38. किन्तु वह उनसे बोला, “तुम ऐसे घबराये हुए क्यों हो? तुम्हारे मनों में संदेह क्यों उठ रहे हैं?

39. मेरे हाथों और मेरे पैरों को देखो। मुझे छुओ, और देखो कि किसी भूत के माँस और हड्डियाँ नहीं होतीं और जैसा कि तुम देख रहे हो कि, मेरे वे हैं।”

40. यह कहते हुए उसने हाथ और पैर उन्हें दिखाये।

41. किन्तु अपने आनन्द के कारण वे अब भी इस पर विश्वास नहीं कर सके। वे भौंचक्के थे सो यीशु ने उनसे कहा, “क्या तुम्हारे पास कुछ खाने को है?”

42. उन्होंने पकाई हुई मछली का एक टुकड़ा उसे दिया।

43. और उसने उसे लेकर उनके सामने ही खाया।

44. फिर उसने उनसे कहा, “ये बातें वे हैं जो मैंने तुमसे तब कही थीं, जब मैं तुम्हारे साथ था। हर वह बात जो मेरे विषय में मूसा की व्यवस्था में नबियों तथा भजनों की पुस्तक में लिखा है, पूरी होनी ही हैं।”

45. फिर पवित्र शास्त्रों को समझने केलिये उसने उनकी बुद्धि के द्वार खोल दिये।

46. और उसने उनसे कहा, “यह वही है, जो लिखा है कि मसीह यातना भोगेगा और तीसरे दिन मरे हुओं में से जी उठेगा।

47. -

48. और पापों की क्षमा के लिए मनफिराव का यह संदेश यरूशलेम से आरंभ होकर सब देशों में प्रचारित किया जाएगा। तुम इन बातों के साक्षी हो।

49. और अब मेरे परम पिता ने मुझसे जो प्रतिज्ञा की है, उसे मैं तुम्हारे लिये भेजूँगा। किन्तु तुम्हें इस नगर में उस समय तक ठहरे रहना होगा, जब तक तुम स्वर्ग की शक्ति से युक्त न हो जाओ।” यीशु की स्वर्ग को वापसी (मरकुस

50. यीशु फिर उन्हें बैतनिय्याह तक बाहर ले गया। और उसने हाथ उठा कर उन्हें आशीर्वाद दिया।

51. उन्हें आशीर्वाद देते देते ही उसने उन्हें छोड़ दिया और फिर उसे स्वर्ग में उठा लिया गया।

52. तब उन्होंने उसकी आराधना की और असीम आनन्द के साथ वे यरूशलेम लौट आये।

53. और मन्दिर में परमेश्वर की स्तुति करते हुए वे अपना समय बिताने लगे।

36. ഇങ്ങനെ അവർ സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവൻ അവരുടെ നടുവിൽ നിന്നു: (“നിങ്ങൾക്കു സമാധാനം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു”.)

37. അവർ ഞെട്ടി ഭയപ്പെട്ടു; ഒരു ഭൂതത്തെ കാണുന്നു എന്നു അവർക്കു തോന്നി.

38. അവൻ അവരോടു “നിങ്ങൾ കലങ്ങുന്നതു എന്തു? നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ സംശയം പൊങ്ങുന്നതും എന്തു?

39. ഞാൻ തന്നെ ആകുന്നു എന്നു എന്റെ കയ്യും കാലും നോക്കി അറിവിൻ; എന്നെ തൊട്ടുനോക്കുവിൻ; എന്നിൽ കാണുന്നതുപോലെ ഭൂതത്തിന്നു മാംസവും അസ്ഥിയും ഇല്ലല്ലോ ”എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

40. (ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവൻ കയ്യും കാലും അവരെ കാണിച്ചു.)

41. അവർ സന്തോഷത്താൽ വിശ്വസിക്കാതെ അതിശയിച്ചു നില്ക്കുമ്പോൾ അവരോടു: “തിന്നുവാൻ വല്ലതും ഇവിടെ നിങ്ങളുടെ പക്കൽ ഉണ്ടോ ” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

42. അവർ ഒരു ഖണ്ഡം വറുത്ത മീനും (തേൻ കട്ടയും) അവന്നു കൊടുത്തു.

43. അതു അവൻ വാങ്ങി അവർ കാൺകെ തിന്നു.

44. പിന്നെ അവൻ അവരോടു: “ഇതാകുന്നു നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു. മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിലും പ്രവാചകപുസ്തകങ്ങളിലും സങ്കീർത്തനങ്ങളിലും എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു ഒക്കെയും നിവൃത്തിയാകേണം എന്നുള്ളതു തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു

45. തിരുവെഴുത്തുകളെ തിരിച്ചറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരുടെ ബുദ്ധിയെ തുറന്നു.

46. ക്രിസ്തു കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിക്കയും മൂന്നാം നാൾ മരിച്ചവരിൽ നിന്നു ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേൽക്കയും

47. അവന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ മാനസാന്തരവും പാപമോചനവും യെരൂശലേമിൽ തുടങ്ങി സകലജാതികളിലും പ്രസംഗിക്കയും വേണം എന്നിങ്ങനെ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

48. ഇതിന്നു നിങ്ങൾ സാക്ഷികൾ ആകുന്നു.

49. എന്റെ പിതാവു വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തതിനെ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ മേൽ അയക്കും. നിങ്ങളോ ഉയരത്തിൽനിന്നു ശക്തി ധരിക്കുവോളം നഗരത്തിൽ പാർപ്പിൻ ”എന്നും അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

50. അനന്തരം അവൻ അവരെ ബേഥാന്യയോളം കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി കൈ ഉയർത്തി അവരെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

51. അവരെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കയിൽ അവൻ അവരെ വിട്ടു പിരിഞ്ഞു (സ്വർഗ്ഗാരോഹണം ചെയ്തു).

52. അവർ (അവനെ നമസ്ക്കരിച്ചു) മഹാസന്തോഷത്തോടെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു

53. എല്ലായ്പോഴും ദൈവലായത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നു ദൈവത്തെ വാഴ്ത്തിപ്പോന്നു.
