The Northeast Region Sunday School Talent Fest 2025 was held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Long Island Mar Thoma Church, Merrick, New York. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 175 Sunday School students, ranging from Grade 1 to 10, from 11 parishes, accompanied by parents, teachers, and parish members. The total attendance was approximately 400 individuals from across the Northeast Region.
The day featured a variety of competitions across multiple categories, including solo and group songs, storytelling, elocution, Bible reading, and Bible quiz. Each event was carefully evaluated by a panel of three judges, ensuring fairness and encouraging excellence among the participants.
Rev. Biju P. Simon delivered the presidential address, inspiring the young participants, while Rev. Jason Varghese, Youth Chaplain for the Northeast Region, served as the Quiz Master, leading the Bible quiz segment with great engagement and energy.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulos Episcopa, who addressed the gathering, commended the students for their dedication and encouraged them to continue growing in their faith and commitment to Christ. Tirumeni also appreciated the parents and teachers for nurturing the spiritual growth of the younger generation.
All participants received certificates of participation, while winners were honored with Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals. The much-anticipated Overall Championship Trophies were awarded as follows:
First Place: St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church, Yonkers, NY
Second Place: Long Island Mar Thoma Church, Merrick, NY
Third Place: St. John’s Mar Thoma Church, Queens, NY
The meeting was also blessed by the presence of Rev. Joel Samuel Thomas, the Diocesan/ Bishop’s Secretary, Rev. Christopher Phil Daniel, the Programme Manager of the Diocese and Rev. Josy J., Vicar of Long Island Mar Thoma Parish.
