Diocesan Clergy & Family Conference 2025

The Diocesan Clergy & Family Conference of the Mar Thoma Diocese of North America was held on July 2–3, 2025, at the Long Island Mar Thoma Church, Merrick, New York. Centred on the theme “Prophetic Pastoring in a Time of Global Crises: Becoming Bridge Clergy for a Bridge Church,” the conference brought together clergy and their families for a time of reflection, fellowship, and theological engagement.

The conference was presided over by the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulos Episcopa, who, in his presidential address, emphasized the need to reclaim prophetic ministry as a biblical and pastoral calling. The conference was inaugurated by Rt. Rev. Mathews Mar Seraphim Episcopa , Diocesan Bishop of the Adoor Diocese. In the inaugural address, Tirumeni called on the clergy to become bridge-builders and agents of reconciliation in a world marred by division and violence.

The main sessions were conducted by Dr. John Thattamannil , Professor of Theology at Union Theological Seminary, New York. Dr. Thattamannil offered deep insights into the interconnected “polycrises” of our time and the theological vision required for prophetic pastoring amid such challenges. Rev. Dr. Jacob George led the Bible studies and theological reflections.

Worship services were organized by the clergy of the Midwest and Western Regions of the Diocese. Special sessions for Basiyomos and children were led by Mrs. Ciby Mathew , Mrs. Ansa John , Rev. John Wilson , and Rev. Robin Varghese , providing meaningful engagement for the entire clergy family.

The conference was coordinated by Rev. Joel Samuel Thomas , Diocesan Secretary, and Rev. Dr. Promod Zachariah , who served as the convenor.

The Clergy & Family Conference was a space for fellowship, pastoral renewal, and shared reflection on the challenges facing the Church and parishes.
